SDSS-2025 FITS catalogs

Here we provide access to the catalogs produced for the analysis of the stellar population properties in the SDSS-DR7, published in Mattolini et al. (2025, A&A). Please refer to this paper for a full description of the dataset. A simplified version of the catalogs is also available on CDS-VizieR.

The catalogs include data for 825,263 unique galaxies, drawn from the SDSS-DR7 MPA-JHU catalogs (see Brinchmann et al. 2004), complemented by the NYU-VAGC catalogue (Blanton et al. 2005) for the relevant photometry and rest-frame corrections.
For ease of use, the information is split into different tables providing:

Basic galaxy information (IDs, RA, dec, z, S/N, Vdisp)
Photometric quantities
Spectral indices, both as measured in fibers and aperture-corrected
Physical stellar population quantities, derived relying either on indices as measured in fibers or on aperture-corrected indices

Statistical weights

      The physical properties tables also include the statistical factors to correct for
	  Malmquist bias and selection biases for S/N>10 and S/N>20.
    

Basic info

Basic galaxy information, duplicates combined

Content: FITS binary table containing unique ID, MPA-JHU parent IDs, RA, dec, z, S/N, Vdisp for 825,263 unique SDSS DR7 galaxies, obtained from the MPA-JHU catalogue (Brinchmann et al. 2004) duplicate-combined by Mattolini et al. (2025). IDs (row numbers) of the corresponding spectra in the MPA-JHU tables are provided.

Photometry

Photometric measurements, duplicates combined

Content: FITS binary table containing the photometric measurements for 825,263 unique SDSS DR7 galaxies, obtained from the NYU-VAGC (Blanton et al. 2005) catalogue after a coordinate match with the MPA-JHU catalogue (Brinchmann et al. 2004) duplicate-combined by Mattolini et al. (2025).

Spectral indices

Index measurements, duplicates combined

Content: FITS binary table containing absorption indices measurements used to estimate the stellar population properties of 825,263 unique SDSS DR7 galaxies. Absorption indices measurements are obtained from the duplicate-combined MPA-JHU catalogue (Brinchmann et al. 2004) duplicate-combined by Mattolini et al. (2025). The catalogs come in two different versions: one with fiber indices as measured in the SDSS, and one with indices aperture-corrected following Zibetti al. (2026).

Stellar populations

Stellar populations parameters, duplicates combined

Content: FITS binary table containing physical properties of stellar population for the 825,263 unique SDSS DR7 galaxies. The catalogs come in two different versions: one using fiber indices as measured in the SDSS, and one using aperture-corrected indices following Zibetti al. (2026). Statistical factors to correct for Malmquist bias and selection biases for S/N>10 and S/N>20 are provided here.
